What’s New?

Curricula Now Available for grades 6-8

Be sure to check out the "For Teachers" section of the Drive Clean Across Texas website. We have added a new set of air quality lessons and activities for grades 6-8. The curriculum covers topics such as, what is air pollution, how transportation affects our air and how we can do our part by driving clean across Texas. Each lesson is matched to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and includes teacher preparation material, directions, activities and quizzes. Best of all, it's free!

Curricula for K-5 Coming This Spring

Lessons specifically geared to grades K-5 will be available this Spring. However, a downloadable coloring and activity book is available now. Our Clean Air Crew—Tex, Dot, Cool Jay and Ollie Ozone—help make learning about air quality and transportation fun for everyone.

Teacher Involvement Encouraged

Attention Teachers, if you are interested in evaluating our air quality teaching materials, we would love to have your input. Please contact Brandon Webb at b-webb@tamu.edu for more information.

Drive Clean Across Texas’ Clean Air Team to Make Début at ATPE

The upcoming Association of Professional Educators (ATPE) conference will be the first event where educators will get a look at Drive Clean’s new cartoon Clean Air Crew and DCAT curricula. DCAT representatives will be exhibiting at the conference on April 1 and 2 at the Austin Convention Center. They are looking forward to spreading the word about the wonderful DCAT lessons, games and activity book now available to teachers around the state. Here is a sneak peek at the new trade show exhibit specially designed for educators.

DCAT promotional materials are on the way

Many local air quality programs have requested promotional items for the upcoming ozone season. Budgets are tight all around, but we are pleased to announce that the Texas Department of Transportation is providing local air quality coalitions throughout the state with some new promotional tools. These tools, which will soon be distributed include:

  • > 4-color Elementary School Bookmarks – featuring the DCAT Clean Air Crew
  • > Brochures promoting the new K-12 curriculum
  • > K-5 Coloring, Activity and Game Books

To request additional quantities of the promotional items listed above, please contact Brandon Webb (b-webb@tamu.edu) and we will have materials shipped to you.

Ozone Season Advertising

Drive Clean Across Texas will be advertising its Clean Air Messages throughout the state again this summer. It will include billboards, radio and television advertising. The advertising dates are June 7-27 and August 9-29. A more detailed schedule, listing the stations running the ads, will be sent out to each area in the near future.

Bring "Drive Clean Across Texas" to your event!

Drive Clean Across Texas campaign staff are available to attend trade shows, conferences, and other clean air events nearly year-round. One or two campaign staff members will attend an event with a booth, brochures, educational campaign tools, and electronic media designed to share the Drive Clean messages with fellow Texans. Campaign personnel may staff an exhibit for up to one-week in duration. Please provide a minimum 45-day notice in advance of your event.

To invite Drive Clean Across Texas to your event, please e-mail b-webb@tamu.edu with the following information:

  • > Name, date, location, and a very brief summary of the event
  • > Amount of entry or exhibit fee, if any (Drive Clean Across Texas is a state-sponsored, public campaign with a very limited budget. We are much more available to attend events where there are no entry fees or where fees are waived for this education and outreach campaign.)
  • > Space availability (We generally need space for a 10-foot booth, close access to electricity, one table for campaign supplies, and two chairs.)

To view a graphic of the booth, see Trade Show Exhibit within the Campaign Materials section.
